FIX: Windows CE may become unstable if you suspend and then resume a device that uses an SD card (835777)

SYMPTOMS

If Microsoft Windows Media Player is playing a music clip from a Secure Digital (SD) card, and you suspend and then resume the device, an error may occur and the system may become unstable. The system may not respond to the insertion of SD cards until you reset the system. Software that depends on access to the SD card may stop responding.

Prerequisites

This software update is supported only if you have installed all previously issued software updates for this product.

Restart requirement

After you install this software update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To clean the platform, click Clean on the Build menu. To build the platform, click Build Platform on the Build menu. You do not have to restart your computer after you apply this software update.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
Under certain conditions, an exception may occur in the file system code because of an access violation. This problem may occur more frequently if the registry setting for the PNPUnloadDelay subkey is set to a small value, such as 50. The PNPUnloadDelay subkey is typically set to 1000.
