You receive an error message when you try to close the .NET Passport sign-in dialog box in Small Business Accounting (835297)

SYMPTOMS

You save an online credit card payment in Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting. Then, when you try to close the .NET Passport sign-in dialog box, you may receive the following error message:
You are about to stop processing the credit card. The customer payment has been recorded in your accounting system. Please make sure that you collect the payment from the customer and deposit it.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the payment will be recorded in Small Business Accounting even though the online credit card payment was not successfully processed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, you have to void the payment that is associated with the transaction. To void the payment in Small Business Accounting, follow these steps:
  1. On the Customers menu, point to Customers List, and then click Payments.
  2. On the View menu, point to Filter By, and then click All.
  3. In the Payment List pane, right-click the customer payment, and then click Void.
  4. Click Yes when you receive the following warning message:This Customer Payment was handled by online credit card processing. Before you void this Customer Payment, it is recommended that you go to the credit card processing report to verify the processing status. To view the credit card processing report, point to Credit Card Processing on the Customer main menu, and then click Manage Credit Card Processing. Do you want to void this Customer Payment?
Note You do not have to verify the processing status by using the Manage Credit Card Processing link. The payment was never recorded through the online credit card processor.
