The property name string length is undefined when you perform an advanced search (835251)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Content Management Server 2002 Connector for SharePoint Technologies

SYMPTOMS

Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) 2002 Connector for SharePoint Technologies permits you to search an MCMS 2002 Web site by using either a free text option or an advanced search option. When you use a long string of characters for the property name with the advanced search option, the items that appear in the drop-down list may be blank.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, make sure that the minimum string length for the property name is set to 1 character and that the maximum string length for the property name is set to 64 characters when you use the advanced search option.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

By default, the string length is not defined in the SearchPropertyCollection.xml file. Therefore, the string length for the property name that appears in the Advanced search user interface does not have a minimum length or a maximum length. When you run the SearchPropertySetup.exe tool, an error may occur if the string contains too many characters. The SearchPropertySetup.exe tool enforces the string length of a minimum of 1 character and a maximum of 64 characters.
