SYMPTOMS
After you apply Microsoft Windows NT security update MS03-045 to a Hebrew, Arabic, or Thai version of Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, when you restart your computer, your computer may stop unexpectedly, and you may receive an error message that is similar to the following error message:
BugCheck C0000142, {e1101968, 0, 0, 0}
RESOLUTION
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the
Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

Note Because of file dependencies, you must have Windows
NT 4.0 Service Pack 6a installed to install this hotfix.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, use any one of the following methods, depending on the type of file system that your computer uses.
Windows NT 4.0 is installed on a FAT file system
If Windows NT 4.0 is installed on a FAT file system, follow these steps:
- Insert an MS-DOS start disk into the 3.5-inch disk drive, and then start your computer.
- At the command prompt, type the following commands and press ENTER after each command:
cd C:\windows\system32
ren Gdi32.dll Gdi.bad
ren User32.dll User32.bad
ren Winsrv.dll Winsrv.bad
ren Win32k.sys Win32k.bad
copy C:\Windows\$NtUninstallKB824141$\Gdi32.dll
copy C:\Windows\$NtUninstallKB824141$\User32.dll
copy C:\Windows\$NtUninstallKB824141$\Winsrv.dll
copy C:\Windows\$NtUninstallKB824141$\Win32k.sys
- Remove the MS-DOS start disk from the 3.5-inch disk drive, and then restart your computer.
Windows NT 4.0 is installed on an NTFS file system
If Windows NT 4.0 is installed on an NTFS file system, follow these steps:
- Use a parallel installation of Windows NT 4.0 to start your computer.

- Start Command Prompt.
- At the command prompt, type the following commands and press ENTER after each command:

- Restart your computer, and then start the installation of Windows NT that had the problem that is described in the "Symptoms" section in this article.
