Picture does not appear as expected after you insert a graphic into your Web page in FrontPage 2003 (833689)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003, if you insert a graphic file that uses one of the following extensions into your Web page, and you preview the Web page in a Web browser, the picture does not appear as expected on the Web page:
  • .tif
  • .ras
  • .eps
  • .pcd
  • .pcx
  • .tga
  • .rle
  • .wpg
  • .fax
For example, if you insert a .tif file to your Web page, and then preview your Web page in Microsoft Internet Explorer, the picture appears as a white box with a red "X".

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because FrontPage 2003 does not support graphic files that use the following extensions:
  • .tif
  • .ras
  • .eps
  • .pcd
  • .pcx
  • .tga
  • .rle
  • .wpg
  • .fax

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, use an image editor to open and to save the graphic file to a format that is supported in FrontPage 2003, and then insert the graphic file into your Web page. FrontPage 2003 supports graphic files that use the following extensions:
  • .gif
  • .jpg
  • .jpeg
  • .png
  • .bmp
  • .wmf
For example, save the graphic file as a .gif file or as a .jpeg file, and then insert the .gif file or .jpeg file (depending on your situation) into your Web page.
