"Access denied" error message when you try to locate an Office Solution Accelerator for Proposals site (833667)

SYMPTOMS

If you try to locate a Microsoft Office Accelerator for Proposals site, you may receive the following error message:
Access denied. You do not have permission to perform this action or access this resource. You can request below that the owner give you access to the resource.

CAUSE

This problem may occur even if you have been granted permissions for the specific proposals site in your Office Accelerator for Proposals portal.

RESOLUTION

As the Administrator for the Office Accelerator for Proposals portal, you can resolve this problem. To do so, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Grant Read (or greater) permissions for the Office Accelerator for Proposals portal

To grant permissions for the Office Accelerator for Proposals portal to your user, follow these steps:
  1. Logon with administrator permissions to your Office Accelerator for Proposals portal that contains the proposals site that you have granted your user permissions for (such as http://serverName/ProposalsHome).
  2. Click Site Settings.
  3. Click Manage users.
  4. Click Add Users.
  5. In the Users box, type the user name of the user who you want to add.
  6. In the Site groups area, click to select the Reader check box.

    Note If you want to grant higher permissions to the user, click to select the appropriate check box.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Complete the user information (as required), and then click Finish.

Method 2: Remove the Project Properties Web part from the proposals site

To remove the Project Properties Web part from the proposals site that your user has assigned permissions for, follow these steps:
  1. Logon with administrator permissions to your Office Accelerator for Proposals site (such as http://serverName/ProposalsHome/ProposalSite).
  2. Click Modify Shared Page, and then click Design this Page.
  3. Click Close (the X in the upper-right corner) of the Project Properties Web part.
  4. Click Modify Shared Page, and then click Design this Page to remove the check mark next to Design this Page.
