How to change the port that is used by Microsoft Office Solution Accelerator for Proposals Web service (833625)

The Microsoft Office Solution Accelerator for Proposals Web service uses port 6002 for its default installation port. If you have to change this port, you must make changes on your client computer and on your server computer.

To do this, follow these steps.

On your server computer

Step 1: Change your Internet Information Services (IIS) settings

To change the port settings for IIS, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
2. Under Internet Information Services, expand servername (local computer).
3. Expand Web Sites.
4. Right-click Microsoft Office Solution Accelerator for Proposals, and then click Properties.
5. On the Web Site tab, change the TCP port box to the port that you want to use.
   
   Note The default port setting is 6002.

Step 2: Change your SQL Server Enterprise Manager database settings

To change the port settings for the Microsoft Office Solution Accelerator for Proposals database, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft SQL Server, and then click Enterprise Manager.
2. Under Console Root, expand Microsoft SQL Servers.
3. Expand SQL Server Group.
4. Expand (local) (Windows NT).
5. Expand Databases.
6. Expand MSCAS (or the database name that you specified during the setup installation).
7. Click Tables.
8. Right-click GlobalTransforms, point to Open Table, and then click Return all rows.
9. Change the text in the Value column to match the port that you specified in Step 1.
10. Close the GlobalTransforms table window (click the X in the upper-right corner of the window).
11. On the File menu, click Exit to quit the SQL Server Enterprise Manager.

Step 3: Restart IIS

To restart IIS, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
2. Under Internet Information Services, right-click servername (local computer), point to All Tasks, and then click Restart IIS.
3. In the What do you want IIS to do? box, select Restart Internet Services on servername, and then click OK.

On your client computer

Step 4: Change the Microsoft Office Solution Accelerator for Proposals Configuration file

To change the port setting in the configuration file, follow these steps:

1. Right-click Start, and then click Explore.
2. In Microsoft Windows Explorer, locate the following folder:

   path\Program Files\Microsoft Solutions\Information Worker\Proposals

3. Right-click Microsoft.Solutions.InformationWorker.Proposals.Config, click Open, and then open the file in Notepad.
4. Locate the ContextService url= tag, and then change the port setting (if it listed) to the port setting that you specified in step 1.
5. On the File menu, click Save.
6. On the File menu, click Exit.

Before you try to open a proposal document, quit all instances of Word. To do this, quit Word (on the File menu in Word, click Exit). Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to view the Task Manager. On the Process tab, click End Task (End Process) for all occurrences of Winword.exe.
