FIX: The Inbox may fault when receiving messages with specific header format (833410)


The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows CE .NET 4.1

SYMPTOMS

When messages are retrieved from an SMTP server by using the Inbox, you may receive an error message. The Inbox application may also quit.

CAUSE

If an e-mail message is received that has duplicate header fields, and the second instance of the header field is split in two lines, the header parsing code uses a NULL pointer. E-mail that contains this header formatting is created by some mobile phone devices.

RESOLUTION

Prerequisites

This fix is supported only when all previously issued fixes for this product have also been installed.

Restart requirement

Following installation of this update you must perform a clean build of the whole operating system. To perform a clean build, follow these steps:
  1. On the Build menu, click Clean.
  2. On the Build menu, click Build Platform.

Hotfix replacement information

This hotfix does not replace any other hotfix.
