You receive an "Internal message buffer overflow" error message when you build a Windows CE 5.0 platform (832267)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows CE 5.0

SYMPTOMS

When you build a Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 platform, you receive the following error message in the build output:
Internal message buffer overflow

CAUSE

The Build tool creates the command line for build tools such as the Linker from several variables. These variables include folder paths, build options, and predefined build settings. Sometimes, the total length of the command line exceeds the size of a buffer in the Build tool. When this problem is detected, the Build tool issues the error and stops the build process.
