Custom Properties Are Not Sorted in Numeric Order in the Custom Property Sheet in Visio 2003 (830874)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2003
  • Microsoft Office Visio Standard 2003

SYMPTOMS

When you apply a Custom Property Set (on the Tools menu) to a shape (for example, a Rectangle shape) in Microsoft Office Visio 2003, the custom properties are not sorted in numeric order in the Custom Property Sheet.

This behavior may also occur with the custom properties on the ShapeSheet (on the Window menu, click Show ShapeSheet).

CAUSE

This behavior may occur when you create a custom property set from a selected shape that contains custom properties.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, create a new set of properties when you create a Custom Property Set.

To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open your Visio 2003 drawing.
  2. Select the shape that you want to add custom properties to.
  3. Right-click the shape, point to Shape, and then click Custom Properties.
  4. Click Yes when you receive the following message:No custom properties exist.

Would you like to define custom properties now?
  5. In the Define Custom Properties dialog box, type or select the type of custom property that you want.
  6. Click OK to close the Define Custom Properties dialog box.

MORE INFORMATION
