FIX: The Windows Media Player Control Is Not Displayed During the Second Instance of the Player (830765)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows CE .NET 4.2

SYMPTOMS

The ActiveX control, Windows Media Player (WMP) Control, is not displayed the second time that you create an instance of the player. This behavior occurs in an ActiveX container program that does not support windowless activation.

If an instance of WMP already been created and destroyed, and then you create another instance of the Windows Media Player Control, the control does not appear.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the window class that is used by the Windows Media Player Control is unregistered the first time that the control is destroyed. However, the class does not indicate internally that the window is no longer registered. This lack of indication causes subsequent registration to be skipped, and the window is not successfully created.
