FIX: You Cannot Beam Files by Using Object Exchange (OBEX) over Infrared (IR) (830713)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to beam a file by using the Object Exchange (OBEX) protocol over Infrared (IR), the transfer may fail with some target devices.

Note This problem does not occur when you accept files during a data transfer and when your device is in the role of an OBEX server.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because a status flag is set incorrectly in the Microsoft Windows CE .NET OBEX support. The flag causes the enumeration of IR devices to terminate prematurely only when the device initiates a transfer as a client device.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix Information

A supported software update is now available from Microsoft as Windows CE 4.2 Core OS QFE 830713. To resolve this problem immediately, click the following article number for information about obtaining Windows CE Platform Builder and core operating system software updates:

Prerequisites

This fix is supported only when all previously issued fixes for this product have also been installed.

Restart Requirement

After you install this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. On the Build menu, click Clean. On the Build menu, click Build Platform.

Hotfix Replacement Information

This hotfix does not replace any other hotfixes.
