The Name of the Logging Queue Is Not Removed When You Remove Windows Rights Management Services (RMS) (830691)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows Rights Management Services (RMS) for Windows Server 2003

SYMPTOMS

When you remove Microsoft Windows Rights Management Services (RMS) from a computer, the name of the logging queue is not removed from the asynchronous queue table in the logging database.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, use your database utilities to manually remove the name of the logging queue from the asynchronous queue table in the logging database.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

A cluster may have multiple servers that use the same logging queue as RMS uses. Therefore, removing RMS does not remove the name of the logging queue from the logging database. This behavior is intended so that other servers are not affected when you remove RMS from a cluster. If no servers in a cluster use a specific logging queue, you may manually remove the name of the logging queue from the logging database as part of your system maintenance.
