You cannot access a secure Web site after you install an nCipher hardware security module (HSM) (830690)

SYMPTOMSOne
third-party Cryptographic Service Provider (CSP) is nCipher. This company
provides a hardware security module (HSM) that you can use with Microsoft
Windows Rights Management Services (RMS) for Microsoft Windows Server 2003. If
you set the HSM as the default SChannel CSP during installation and then you immediately try to access a secure Web site, your browser cannot connect to the secure Web site, and you receive the following
error message: The page cannot
be displayed. Note Secure sites are generally accessed by means of a URL that includes the https:// protocol. The third-party products that this article discusses are
manufactured by companies that are independent of Microsoft. Microsoft makes no
warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding the performance or reliability of
these products.
CAUSEThis
problem occurs because you do not restart your computer after the installation. However, the program does not prompt you to restart your computer. Because you
do not restart your computer, you experience the behavior that is mentioned in
the "Symptoms"
section.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, restart your computer. You can
expect to be able to connect to secure Web sites.
