Error Message When You Run the "Prep=Domainadd" Command: "Another Version of This Product Is Already Installed" (830536)

SYMPTOMS

When you run the rtcsrv.msi prep=domainadd domainname=example command, where example is the NetBIOS name of the domain that you want to add, you may receive the following error message:
Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of the product, use Add/Remove Programs on the control Panel.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if you run this command on a server where you have upgraded a pre-release version of Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2003 to the released version.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue and add the domain, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
  2. Type the following command, and then press the ENTER key:

    msiexec.exe /i {C72BA31D-D2D9-4983-B6F6-C78B962E910C} PREP=DOMAINADD DOMAINNAME=Example [/L*V drive:\setup_enterprise.log]

    Where Example is the NetBIOS name of the domain that you want to add, and where drive is the letter of the drive where you want to store the Setup log file.
