The Multiple Choice Values Dialog Box Does Not Open When You Edit a Large Multivalued Property Definition (830266)

SYMPTOMS

When you edit a large multivalued property definition by using the Catalog Designer module in Microsoft Commerce Server 2000 Business Desk (BizDesk), the Multiple Choice Values dialog box may not open when you click the Edit button.

CAUSE

The Catalog Designer module in BizDesk is coded to send the multivalued property data in the query string through a post. Microsoft Internet Explorer has a maximum URL length of 2,083 characters. When this limit is exceeded, the Multiple Choice Values dialog box does not open.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Commerce Server 2000 service pack that contains this hotfix.
