FIX: Extending the Metabase Schema May Result in Corrupt Custom Properties (830219)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Internet Information Services version 6.0

SYMPTOMS

When you extend the metabase schema with custom properties, the custom properties may become corrupted.

CAUSE

If you restart Internet Information Services (IIS), the next free property ID is not correct. If you create a new custom property, the new custom property overrides the last custom property and corrupts the schema.

MORE INFORMATION

The Schema\1004 metabase key stores the next property ID for custom properties. After you restart IIS, the Schema\1004 key is always one number too low. As long as IIS is running, the Schema\1004 key is incremented correctly.
