SYMPTOMS

When you rotate a Microsoft Word object that is embedded in a Microsoft Office Visio 2003 drawing, the text appears only when the rotation is at 90, 180, or 270 degrees. Otherwise, the text disappears until you rotate the object to one of these settings or restore it to the original position.
To work around this problem, follow these steps.
Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
  1. Start Visio 2003.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  3. On the Advanced tab, click to select the Put all settings in Windows registry check box, and then click OK.
  4. On the File menu, click Exit to quit Visio, and then restart your computer.
  5. Click Start, and then click Run.
  6. In the Run dialog box, type regedit, and then click OK.
  7. In Registry Editor, locate, and then select the following registry entry:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Visio\Application\GpImageControl

  8. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
  9. In the Edit String dialog box, under Value data, type 240075, and then click OK.
  10. Repeat steps 7 through 9 for the following registry entry:

    HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-2127521184-1604012920-1887927527-541443\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Visio\Application\GpImageControl

  11. In Registry Editor, locate, and then select the following entry:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Visio\Application\GpTextControl

  12. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
  13. In the Edit String dialog box, under Value data, type 10000, and then click OK.
  14. Repeat steps 7 through 9 for the following registry entry:

    HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-2127521184-1604012920-1887927527-541443\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Visio\Application\GpTextControl

  15. On the File menu, click Exit.
  16. Restart your computer.
Note This workaround may cause the text to lose its formatting and spacing if the Word object is rotated, except at 90 degrees, 180 degrees, and 270 degrees.
