How to Extract the Stsv2.exe File That You Download to Use for a Quiet (Unattended) Installation of Windows SharePoint Services (829782)

To perform a quiet (unattended) installation of Windows SharePoint Services by using the Stsv2.exe file, you must first extract the Stsv2.exe file to a folder, and then use the /q command-line option with the Setupsts.exe file. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
3. At the command prompt, switch to the folder that contains the Stsv2.exe file.
4. Type the following line, where Drive:\Folder is the folder where you want to extract the contents of the Stsv2.exe file to, and then press ENTER:

   stsv2.exe /c /t:drive:\folder

   For example, if you want to extract the contents of the Stsv2.exe file to a folder that is named Wss_Files on drive C, type the following line, and then press ENTER:

   stsv2.exe /c /t:c:\wss_files

5. At the command prompt, switch to the folder that contains the files that you extracted in step 4.
6. Type the following line, and then press ENTER:

   setupsts.exe /q

   Note There are several variations of the /q command-line option that you can use with the Setupsts.exe file.
