Shared OneNote 2003 section opens as read-only (829244)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to type or to add information to a Microsoft Office OneNote 2003 section, you may notice that the section is read-only.

CAUSE

This issue occurs if the OneNote 2003 section is stored on a Microsoft Windows 98-based or Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me)-based computer in a shared folder.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, store shared OneNote 2003 sections on a different server.
