A viewport is not visible when you open an AutoCAD file in Visio 2003 that you saved in Paperspace mode (829240)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office Visio Standard 2003
- Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2003
SYMPTOMSWhen you open an AutoCAD .dwg file in Microsoft Office Visio
2003 that was saved in AutoCAD's Paperspace mode (or the
Layout tab), a viewport is not visible.CAUSE The viewport is not visible because it is on a frozen
layer. Therefore, it is not included in the calculation of the
extents.A layer may be frozen in AutoCAD software. Any objects on a
frozen layer are not rendered, displayed, or edited by the program. This saves
time and system resources while the program is working with the file.
WORKAROUNDTo work around this issue, follow these steps:
- Open the file by using Visio 2003.
- Right-click the CAD drawing, click CAD Drawing
Object, and then click Properties.
- Click the Layer tab, click Set
Visibility, and then click each of the layers to make them visible.
- Click Apply, and then click
OK.
- Click File, click Save
As, and then save the file as an AutoCAD Drawing (.dwg)
file.
- Open the newly created .dwg file in Visio 2003.
The frozen layer will now be visible.
