New Drawing Name Is Incorrect When You Create a New Drawing Document (829229)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2003
  • Microsoft Office Visio Standard 2003

SYMPTOMS

When you create a new drawing document in Microsoft Office Visio 2003, the new drawing name looks similar to the following drawing name

Drawing n+2

where n+2 is the current drawing name index incremented by two.

For example, if the current drawing's name is "Drawing 1," and you create a new drawing document, the new name for the new drawing is "Drawing 3" instead of "Drawing 2."

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you used the Connector tool on the standard toolbar as the last tool to draw a connecting line to connect two shapes on the drawing page of the current first drawing before you created a new drawing document.

This problem does not occur if you use the Dynamic connector or the Line-curve connector tools on the Shapes panel to draw a connecting line.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
