Word Art Command Is Unexpectedly Listed on the Submenu That Appears When You Point to Picture on the Insert Menu (829223)


The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2003
  • Microsoft Office Visio Standard 2003

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Office Visio 2003, when you point to Picture on the Insert menu, you may find that the Word Art command is listed on the submenu that appears, even though Visio 2003 does not support the WordArt Gallery.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when both of the following conditions are true:
  • The Choose Drawing Type and New Drawing task panes are displayed in Visio 2003.
  • No drawings are open in Visio 2003. That is, a drawing page is not displayed.
In this situation, when you point to Picture on the Insert menu, the Word Art command is listed on the submenu that appears.

WORKAROUND

The symptoms that are described in the "Symptoms" section of this article do not affect the functionality of Visio 2003. You can ignore the Word Art command that is listed on the submenu that appears when you point to Picture on the Insert menu.

Note that although the Word Art command is listed on the submenu, the command is unavailable (appears dimmed). You cannot click the command to run it.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.
