SYMPTOMS

When you try to send a map from Microsoft Streets and Trips or from Microsoft MapPoint, the Send To commands on the File menu are unavailable.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if Microsoft Outlook is not your default e-mail program.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior by using your current e-mail program, follow these steps to send a map:
  1. Create the map that you want.
  2. On the Edit menu, click Copy map.
  3. Start your e-mail program, and then open or compose a new e-mail message.
  4. Right-click in the body of the message, and then click Paste.
If you want to send directions in an e-mail message by using your current e-mail program, follow these steps:
  1. Create the map that you want, and then plan the route.
  2. On the Edit menu, click Copy Directions.
  3. Open a new e-mail message or use the same e-mail message where you pasted the map.
  4. Right-click in the body of the message, and then click Paste.
If you have Outlook, you can use all the Send To commands in Streets and Trips. To work around this behavior, select Outlook as the default mail handler. To select Outlook as the default mail handler, follow these steps:
  1. Start Microsoft Internet Explorer.
  2. In Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.x, on the View menu, click Internet Options.

In Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or Internet Explorer 6, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  3. On the Programs tab, in the Mail list or in the E-mail list, click Microsoft Outlook, and then click OK.
Another option is to install Outlook and then set Microsoft Outlook Express as the default mail handler. You can then use the Send To command as an attachment feature. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. Start Internet Explorer.
  2. In Internet Explorer 4.x, on the View menu, click Internet Options.

In Internet Explorer 5 or Internet Explorer 6, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  3. On the Programs tab, in the Mail list or in the E-mail list, click Microsoft Outlook Express, and then click OK.
