Tasks do not appear to be linked to Business Contact Manager items in Outlook 2003 (828243)



The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 with Business Contact Manager

SYMPTOMS

When you create a Task for any Business Contact Manager item, such as an Account or a Business Contact, directly from the item (if you click Add on the form, and then click Task from the list), the new Task does not appear to be linked to the Business Contact Manager item.

Note The Tasks do appear in the History area of the Account or Business Contact.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use one of the following methods.

Determine if the Task Is Linked to a Business Contact Manager Contact

  1. Open the Task folder under your default Outlook folders in the navigation pane of Outlook 2003.
  2. Locate the Task item that you want to confirm is linked to a Business Contact Manager Account, and then double-click the Task item.
  3. In the Link to History list, click Business Contacts.

    Note If you do not see the Link to History list, click View, click Toolbars, click Customize, and then click to select the Business Contact Manager (detailed) check box on the Toolbars tab.
  4. On the Business Contact manager toolbar, click the Select Business Contact button.

    This opens the Business Contacts dialog box. Under the text that reads This item is also linked to: in the Business Contacts dialog box, the Business Contacts that are linked to the task are displayed.
  5. Click OK to close the Business Contacts dialog box.

Determine if the Task Is Linked to a Business Contact Manager Account

  1. Open the Task folder under your default Outlook folders in the navigation pane of Outlook 2003.
  2. Locate the Task item that you want to confirm is linked to a Business Contact Manager Account, and then double-click the Task item.
  3. In the Link to History list, click Accounts.
  4. On the Business Contact manager toolbar, click the Select Account button.

    This opens the Accounts dialog box. Under the text that reads This item is also linked to: in the Accounts box, the Accounts that are linked to the task are displayed.
  5. Click OK to close the Accounts dialog box.

Determine if the Task Is Linked to a Business Contact Manager Opportunity

  1. Open the Task folder under your default Outlook folders in the navigation pane of Outlook 2003.
  2. Locate the Task item you want to confirm is linked to a Business Contact Manager Account, and then double-click the Task item.
  3. In the Link to History list, click Opportunities.
  4. On the Business Contact manager toolbar, click the Select Opportunities button.

    This opens the Opportunities dialog box. Under the text that reads This item is also linked to: in the Opportunities dialog box, the Opportunities that are linked to the task are displayed.
  5. Click OK to close the Opportunities dialog box.
