You receive an "An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request" error message when you connect to your Windows SharePoint Services Web site (827929)

SYMPTOMS

When you connect to your Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services Web site after you install Windows SharePoint Services on the server, you may receive one of the following error messages:

Server Error in '/' Application.

Configuration Error Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.

Parser Error Message: File or assembly name System.Web.UI.MobileControls.Adapters, or one of its dependencies, was not found.

Parser Error Message: Type 'Microsoft.MSCOM.MNP.Framework.PageHandlerFactory, MNP.Framework, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=a75671c2b10b8543' cannot be instantiated under a partially trusted security policy (AllowPartiallyTrustedCallersAttribute is not present).

CAUSE

This issue may occur if you install Windows SharePoint Services on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based server that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. The Device Update package that is installed on the server when you install Exchange Server 2003 adds certain lines to the Machine.config file that are not compatible with Windows SharePoint Services.

Note This issue may also occur on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server-based computer that is running Exchange Server 2003 and Windows SharePoint Services.
