Warning message when you save changes that are made to a multi-frame picture in Picture Manager (827741)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office Basic Edition 2003

SYMPTOMS

When you save changes that are made to a multiframe picture such as an animated .gif file or a multipage fax (.tif file), you receive the following warning message from Picture Manager:
Saving the file <filename> will result in the loss of multiple pages or animations. You can preserve the original file by saving with another name or to another location.
You may also receive the following message when you export a multiframe image where edits have been made but not yet committed: Exporting the file <filename> will result in the loss of multiple pages or animation.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because many Picture Manager editing features are limited to single-frame images. There is no way to view each frame of a multi-frame image in Picture Manager.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, use another graphic program or use your fax software to view the individual frames in the graphic.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
