FIX: You may receive a "Cyclic Redundancy Check" error message when you try to extract a .zip file by using the ZipFile class in Microsoft Visual J# .NET (827600)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to compress and then to expand a .zip file by using the ZipFile class in Microsoft Visual J# .NET, you may receive an error message. This error message only occurs when the .zip file is compressed by using the ZipFile class.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the ZipEntry Class Reader limits the lengths of the entries to 64 kilobytes (KB).

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next service pack that contains this hotfix.
