FIX: IEHost Makes Calls Back to Port 80 When Internet Explorer Is Bound to a Port Other Than Port 80 (827558)

SYMPTOMS

When a managed component is hosted in Microsoft Internet Explorer on a site that is bound to a port other than port 80, the Internet Explorer runtime host (IEHost.dll) makes inappropriate calls back to port 80 at the same site. These calls cause client delays and unacceptable traffic on the server that hosts the port 80 traffic.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next .NET Framework 1.1 service pack that contains this hotfix.
