Original picture information is lost or changed when you insert a linked picture in Publisher2003 (827313)

SYMPTOMS

When you insert a linked picture in a pre-existing picture frame, the following symptoms occur:
  • Both the size and the scale information on the Size tab in the Format Picture dialog box are incorrect.

    -and-
  • Both the scale and the effective resolution information in the Graphics Manager Details dialog box are incorrect.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, follow these steps to insert the linked picture:
  1. Click the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click From File.
  2. In the Insert Picture dialog box, select the picture that you want, click the arrow on the Insert button, and then click Link to File.
  3. Resize the picture frame to the size that you want.

You can insert a picture in a pre-existing frame by using one of the following methods:
  • Use the Picture Frame button on the Object toolbar.

  • Double-click an existing picture to display the Insert Picture dialog box.

    -or-
  • In the graphics manager pane, right-click the image that you want to insert in the Select a Picture area, and then click Replace this picture.
