Text block shape does not have the correct dimensions on a drawing page in Visio 2003 (827286)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2003
- Microsoft Office Visio Standard 2003
SYMPTOMSWhen you drag a text block shape onto a scaled drawing page, such as a floor plan, the shape may appear very narrow and the text may extend outside the expected shape boundaries in a narrow column. CAUSEThis problem occurs when the text block shape master is scaled and then dragged onto a page that has a different scale. Microsoft Office Visio 2003 treats the text block as an object that has dimensions and preserves the width of the text block. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, create a new master text block shape that has no scale. To do so, follow these steps: - On the File menu, point to New, point to Block Diagram, and then click Basic Diagram.
By default, the scaling of the basic diagram is set to No scaling. - Drag the text block master that you want to use onto the drawing page.
- On the File menu, point to Shapes, point to My Shapes, and then click Favorites.
- Drag the shape from the drawing page onto the Favorites stencil.
The new master shape has no scaling and can be used in scaled drawing pages.
