"Partial Layer" Shapes in Your Drawing Change After You Copy and Paste Them to a New Drawing or to a New Area of Your Drawing (827236)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2003
- Microsoft Office Visio Standard 2003
SYMPTOMSIf you move Partial layer shapes in your drawing, the shapes, the relative position, and size of some of the moved shapes in the drawing may change. Additionally, some shapes may be added to the drawing or missing from the drawing. For example, the shapes may change when you copy and paste them to a different area of your drawing page, to a new drawing, or to a document in a Microsoft Office program or other program that supports linking and embedding.CAUSEThis problem may occur if the Partial layer shapes in your drawing are connected in a circular pattern. This problem may also occur if the circular pattern that is formed by the Partial layer shapes contains line shapes that form a "pie" diagram. In this situation, the connection points between the shapes in the drawing may not be retained after you copy and paste the shapes to a different area of your drawing page, to a new drawing, or to a document in another program.WORKAROUNDTo insert your Visio drawing in a document into another program, try the following workaround: - Open the document in the program where you want to embed your Visio drawing.
- On the Insert menu, click Object.
- Click Create from File, and then click Browse.
- Locate the Visio drawing that you want to insert, and then click the file name of the drawing.
- Click Insert, and then click OK.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
