Country Code Property Returns Wrong Value in Macro for Korea (827029)


The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel 2002
  • Microsoft Office XP Multilingual User Interface Pack

SYMPTOMS

If a Microsoft Excel Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) macro tries to use the international property of the application object, the result for Korea may be incorrect. The result may be 1 (the country code for the U.S.), instead of the Korean country code of 82.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Regional and Language Options.
  3. On the Regional Options tab, click Korean in the Standards and formats area.
  4. In the Location area, click Korea.
  5. On the Languages tab, in the Language used in menus and dialogs list, click Korean.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Restart the computer.
  8. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Office Tools, and then click Microsoft Office XP Language Settings.
  9. On the User Interface tab, in the Display menus and dialog boxes list, click (same as the system).
  10. In the Display Help in list, click (same as the system).
  11. On the Enabled Languages tab, in the Default version of Microsoft Office list, click Korean.
  12. Click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
