Cannot Print from Virtual PC (824976)


The information in this article applies to:

  • Connectix Virtual PC for Mac version 5.0
  • Connectix Virtual PC for Mac version 6.0
  • Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac version 6.1

SYMPTOMS

When you try to print from a virtual machine with Virtual PC, you receive a message that states that you must first install and select a printer.

RESOLUTION

In Virtual PC, the default option is to use a USB printer. By using a USB printer and the correct printer driver, you can maximize the functionality and fidelity of your printer. You must first install the drivers for your USB printer by using the manufacturer's instructions.

If you use an older serial printer or a non-Microsoft Windows networked laser printer instead of a USB printer, you must install the correct emulated drivers. For more information about how to print in Virtual PC, see the "How to Print Using Virtual PC" topic in Virtual PC Help.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
