PRB: Cannot Set vod_channel_number to the Same Number as an Existing Channel Number (824929)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft TV Foundation Client 1.0
  • Microsoft TV Foundation Server 1.0

SYMPTOMS

Video-On-Demand (VOD) is an application that a viewer can use to view an on-demand program. Some problems may occur if you set the VOD application channel number (vod_channel_number) to a number that is the same as an existing channel number. (Example: American Broadcasting Company (ABC) is set to channel number 5.)

The following is a list of some of the problems that may occur:
  • The description for the VOD channel is combined with the Electronic Program Guide (EPG) information for the current program that has time remaining on that channel number.
  • The VOD virtual channel always appears at the top of the list in the Mini-Guide, regardless of the channel that the set-top box (STB) is currently tuned to.
  • If you tune the STB to the VOD virtual channel, VOD appears.
  • If you select the VOD virtual channel in the Guide, VOD appears.
  • If you select the VOD virtual channel in the Mini-Guide, the channel that you select appears.

RESOLUTION

Change the VOD channel number to a number that no other channel is using.
