How to Use an Apple GeoPort Modem with Virtual PC (824581)

GeoPort modems do not function in the same manner as hardware-based modems. Therefore, you must perform some additional steps to use a GeoPort modem correctly.

• Make sure that you are using GeoPort software version 3.1.2 or later. You can download the latest software from the following Apple Web site:

  http://www.apple.com/

• For Virtual PC to recognize a GeoPort modem correctly, you must turn off the Flow Control setting in the following two areas:
  • In the Modem Control Panel.
  • In the properties for your dial-out modem file (typically found in the same folder as your dial-out program).
  If you use a program to dial out other than the one that is included with Windows, review the documentation that is included with that program to turn off Flow Control.
