FIX: You receive a "MissingManifestResourceException" error message when you add a linked resource in Visual Studio .NET 2003 (824495)

SYMPTOMSWhen you debug your Microsoft Windows Forms-based application in Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003, you may receive the following error message: An unhandled exception of type 'System.Resources.MissingManifestResourceException' occurred in mscorlib.dll CAUSEThis problem occurs if the following conditions are true: - Your Visual Studio .NET solution contains two or more projects.
- The projects that contain the common resource are not in the same namespace.
- Two or more projects create an instance of the common resource at run time.
When a resource is shared between two or more projects that are in different namespaces, and the projects are in the same solution, the run time environment may experience a MissingManifestResourceException error. RESOLUTIONA supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Visual Studio .NET 2003 service pack that contains this hotfix.
