Postings That You Move by Using Site Manager Do Not Appear in the Approval Assistant (824489)

SYMPTOMS

If you use Site Manager to move a posting in Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) 2002, the posting is set to "Waiting for Moderator Approval." However, it does not appear in the Approval Assistant.

CAUSE

When you use the Publishing API to move a published posting, the posting node is checked out and the approval status for that node is set to 0. When you use Site Manager to move a published posting, the posting node is not checked out . It remains checked in, but the approval status is set to 0.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain and install MCMS 2002 Service Pack 1 (SP1). For more information about MCMS 2002 SP1, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use the Publishing API to dynamically generate navigation so that users can see all unapproved pages in a channel without having to use the Approval Assistant.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Content Management Server 2002. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Content Management Server 2002 Service Pack 1.
