PRB: You Do Not Receive a Confirmation Message When the Visual Studio Tools for the Office System Installation Is Successful (823994)

SYMPTOMS

You install Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System. If you click the Cancel button while the installation is removing the backup files, the installation does not end. Instead, the installation continues until it is complete. When the installation is complete, the following confirmation message is not displayed:Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System installation completed successfully. However, Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System is successfully installed.

CAUSE

While the installation is removing the backup files, the Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System help documentation is merged with the Microsoft Developer Network help documentation. You cannot cancel the installation process at this point.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

Click the Setup.exe file to start the Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System installation.
On the Welcome to the Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System Setup Wizard dialog box, click the Next button.
Click to select the I accept the terms in the License Agreement check box, and then click Next.
Click Next to accept the default installation folder.
Click the Install button.
When the installation status displays Removing backup files. This may take several minutes, click the Cancel button.
You receive the following message:Are you sure you want to cancel Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System installation? Click Yes.

When the installation is complete, you do not receive a confirmation message. However, Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System is successfully installed.
