Favorites Folder from Internet Explorer 5.0 for Mac OS 9.0 Does Not Appear in Internet Explorer 5.1 for Mac OS X (823848)


The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.1.x for Macintosh, when used with:
    • the operating system: Mac OS X
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0.x for Macintosh, when used with:
    • the operating system: Mac OS 9.0

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade your Mac OS computer from Mac OS 9.0 to Mac OS X, you may notice that your Favorites folder from Internet Explorer 5.0.x for Mac OS 9.0 does not appear in Internet Explorer 5.1.x for Mac OS X.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, import your Favorites folder from Internet Explorer 5.0. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. Start Internet Explorer 5.1.
  2. On the Window menu, click Favorites.
  3. On the File menu, click Import Favorites.
  4. Locate your old Favorites folder in the following location:

    HD:System Folder:Preferences:Explorer

  5. Click the Favorites.html file that you want to import, and then click Open.
Your Internet Explorer 5.0 Favorites.html file is stored in the following folder in your Classic System folder:

System Folder:Preferences:Explorer:Favorites.html
