Animation in a Credits animation effect may stop before the credits have finished scrolling in PowerPoint (823824)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft PowerPoint, the animation in the Credits animation effect may stop before the credits have finished scrolling if either of the following conditions is true:

You use lots of text in the Credits animation effect.
You use a large text size in the Credits animation effect.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if the memory that is used for animation effects runs out. Animation effects have restricted memory, and the animation stops when that memory is exhausted. The memory that is available is equal to the size of a full slide of text that has no text that overlaps the edges of the slide.

WORKAROUND

For Microsoft PowerPoint 2002 and for Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003

To work around this issue, use any of the following methods.

Method 1

Create multiple columns of text on the slide, and then animate each column separately.

Method 2

Break the text so that it spans multiple slides and creates a longer slide show.

Method 3

Use a custom motion path to simulate a credits animation. To do this, follow these steps:

Select the text that you want to animate.
On the Slide Show menu, click Custom Animation.
In the Custom Animation pane, click Add Effect, point to Motion Paths, and then click Up.
In the Speed box, click Very Slow.
In the Custom Animation pane, select all animated items in the list, click the down arrow, and then click Effect Options.
Click to clear the Smooth start and Smooth end check boxes, and then click OK.
