FIX: QASF Does Not Support VIDEOINFOHEADER2 for Windows Media Digital Rights Management Files (823738)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft DirectX Software Development Kit 9.0

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Microsoft Windows Media DirectX Reader filter to play back content, you may notice distorted playback when you play certain types of Windows Media files that have been protected with Windows Media Digital Rights Management (DRM). Some files that may have playback issues include but are not limited to:
  • Files that use an aspect ratio. These files are played back as stretched video.
  • Files that use an interlacing filter.
Additionally, for files that have been protected with DRM, the QASF filter does not support direct connections to the Video Mixer Renderer (VMR).

CAUSE

The QASF filter does not correctly support the VIDEOINFOHEADER2 structure for files that have been protected with DRM.
