STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

MORE INFORMATION

The IIS ADSI provider resolves the account name security identifier (SID) on the computer that is running. If you try to administer a remote Web server, the local account of the remote computer is passed to the LookupAccountSid function on the administration computer. This computer name parameter is always NULL, and the IIS ADSI code always tries to resolve it locally. The operation may not be successful because the accounts may have different SIDs on different computers.

Note This problem affects only remote administration through ADSI and Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI). The WMI provider uses ADSI provider code to deal with the AdminACL property.
