Empty Dialog Box Appears When You Use the Check Configuration Function in a Systems Management Server Installer Script (822793)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Systems Management Server 2.0
  • Microsoft Systems Management Server Installer 2.0

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Check Configuration function in a Systems Management Server (SMS) Installer script, an empty (blank) dialog box with an OK button may appear when the script runs. The script finishes after you click OK. The empty dialog box does not appear when you use the /s parameter to run the script silently.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, recompile the SMS Installer script without making any changes. To recompile the script, follow these steps:
  1. Quit the SMS Installer Script editor.
  2. Restart the SMS Installer Script Editor, and then open the IPF file.
  3. Recompile the script, but do not make changes to the script.
When you next run the script, the empty dialog box should not appear.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
