WMI Terminal Server Provider SelectNetworkAdapterIP Method Does Not Work Correctly (822664)

SYMPTOMS

The Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) Terminal Server Provider (Tscfgwmi.dll) SelectNetworkAdapterIP method does not work correctly if the Lanatable registry subkey is missing. The following is the Lanatable subkey path in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\Lanatable

If the Lanatable subkey is missing, the connection is disabled until the errors are resolved through the user interface in Terminal Server (Tscc.msc).

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing.
