You cannot export an Outlook contact that does not have an e-Mail address to your SharePoint Web site contact list (822258)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003
- Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services
SYMPTOMSWhen you click Import Contacts on the Contacts page of your SharePoint Web site to import a Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 contact from your address book to your contacts list, only Outlook contacts that have e-mail addresses appear on the list. You cannot import Outlook contacts that do not have e-mail addresses. CAUSEThis behavior occurs because you can only import Outlook contacts that have e-mail addresses to a SharePoint contact list. When you click Import Contacts, you can import contact information from your Outlook address book to a SharePoint contacts list. Because only those Outlook contacts that have e-mail address appear in the address book, only contacts with e-mail addresses can be imported to the SharePoint contacts list. WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, add a "false" e-mail address to the Outlook contacts that do not have e-mail addresses, and then import the Outlook contacts to your SharePoint contacts list.STATUS
This behavior is by design.MORE INFORMATIONYou can use a SharePoint contacts list to communicate with the people with whom your team works with. For example, you can enter names and contact information (such as telephone number, e-mail address, and street address) so that everyone on your team can use this information. You can copy contact information from your address book to a contacts list (requires a Windows SharePoint Services-compatible address book, such as Outlook 2003, and Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or later), and you can copy or link contacts from a contacts list to your address book.
