You cannot rename or edit the text on a Page tab that is contained in the Quick Notes section or in the Side Notes section in OneNote 2003 (822145)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office OneNote 2003

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Office OneNote 2003, when you try to rename or edit the text on a Page tab that is contained in the Quick Notes section or in the Side Notes section (folder), you cannot make the change.

For example, when you click the Page tab, or you right-click the Page tab, you do not have an option to rename or to edit the tab text.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the Page tab is not directly editable. The text that is contained on the Page tab is derived from the text that is contained in the first line of the page or from the text in the Page Header.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Type the Page Tab Text on the First Line of the Page

When you create or edit a page in the Quick Notes or Side Notes section, type the text that you want to appear on the Page tab on the first line of the page.

Note The Page tab text will not appear on the tab until you switch to a different page.

Method 2: Turn on the Page Header

When you turn on the page header, you can make changes to the Page tabs as you do in the General and Meetings sections.

To turn on the page header and then change the page tab, follow these steps:
  1. Click the page tab that you want to change.
  2. On the Viewmenu, click Page Header.
  3. In the Title box, type the text that you want to appear on the page tab.
