When you use Exchange System Manager to rename an Exchange 2000 mailbox store, the display name is not changed in the Active Directory directory service.

When you use Exchange System Manager to rename an Exchange 2000 mailbox store, the display name in Active Directory is not changed. When you change a mailbox store name by using Exchange System Manager, all the dependant Exchange 2000 attributes in Active Directory are changed except the display name. Microsoft does not recommend that you use the display name attribute in applications to identify a mailbox store. Instead, use the cn or name attribute to identify a mailbox store.
