  • The Operating system column of the table includes the wrong operating system service pack (Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1) as a requirement for the .NET-based assemblies.
The correct required operating system is Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2.

Registration-free COM interop activates a component without using the Windows registry to store assembly information. The .NET Framework documentation topic, "Requirements for Registration-Free COM Interop," mentions that you must have Windows XP Service Pack 1 installed to use registration-free COM interop. This statement is incorrect. You must have Windows XP Service Pack 2 installed.
