You receive a non-delivery report when Outlook 2000 incorrectly formats MDBEF encoding (821604)
The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIf Outlook 2000 creates e-mail messages that incorrectly
contain the Microsoft Database Format (MDBEF) encoding, the following symptoms
are experienced:
- The e-mail messages contain MAPI properties that do not
belong under certain contexts.
-and- - The e-mail messages will not be sent to their intended
recipients.
-and- - The sender receives a non-delivery report (NDR) that is
similar to the following when these types of e-mail messages are sent:
Your message did not reach
some or all of the intended recipients. Subject: Subject of
Message Sent: 6/27/2003 11:25 AM The following
recipient(s) could not be reached: Recipient
Name on 6/27/2003 11:25 AM
A syntax error was detected
in the content of the message The MTS-ID of the original message is:
c=US;a= ;l=Server-020127192459Z-145206
MSEXCH:MSExchangeMTA:Site:Server
The sender receives this NDR when the Microsoft Exchange Message
Transfer Agent (MTA) does not convert the content of the e-mail message.
CAUSEThis problem occurs because the Microsoft Outlook client
improperly formats the MDBEF encoding. In particular, Outlook may include the PR_EMAIL_ADDRESS MAPI property in a non-recipient context when an e-mail message is
forwarded after a rule has moved the e-mail message to a different
folder.RESOLUTIONHow to Obtain the HotfixThis issue is fixed in the Outlook 2000 Post-Service Pack Hotfix
